Get InvolvedThis was a big season of change and growth for us, but we were able to sustain our momentum from previous years. Our founding teacher and mentor moved out of state and we got a new lead one. We increased from 4 to 5 teams, got new students, and got many new adult and high school mentors!
We couldn't have done it without our returning students and returning youth mentors from FRC Team 1318: Issaquah Robotics Society providing their "tribal knowledge" and experience. When our students go to high school, depending on which of our local high schools they feed into, they'll join the Issaquah Robotics Society or the Iron Patriots. Having our kids get exposure to the other high school robotics participants and mentors is so helpful for them having increased feeling of belonging in their school and the FIRST community!
And, of course with changing educational funding - having financial support from the Issaquah Schools Foundation, FIRST Washington, Issaquah School District, and Boeing was crucial to helping us stay afloat.
We had many new students participate with our teams and each competed fiercely with their robot designs, robot programming, and judges presentations. The Wonton Warriors even earned finalist for their unique Innovation Project, about how to do underwater archaeology better!
Congratulations again to the Robo Roosters, Hacking Hippos, Project Chicken United, Matrix Masters, and Wonton Warriors! And, thank you so much to our sponsors and mentors!
The Robo Roosters won the Champion's Finalist Award at qualifiers and moved on to the semi finals! Team Project Chicken United won the Breakthrough Award and placed 9th overall. Teams Hacking Hippos and Matrix Masters both had great showings and are looking forward to taking what they learned from this year into next year.
One Falcon alum, Harrison, who is now a sophomore at IHS, has been volunteering with the club since leaving Cougar Mountain Middle School. He won the Mentor Award!
